E. C. ELSON OBITUARY

Edmund Combs Elson passed away at St. Anthony's Hospital, Effingham, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 1955, after a week's illness, at the age of 82 years, five months and 20 days.
Mr. Elson was born Dec. 21, 1872, on a farm southeast of Trilla, a son of Turner and Mary Elson. He resided there until March, 1917, when he moved with his family to the present farm home northeast of Neoga.
He was married to Miss Mabel Thompson, who survives, on May 3, l904. To this union were born 8 children: Lloyd of Windsor, Carl, Dwight , John and Warren of Neoga, Mrs. George L. (Helen) Wilson of Mattoon, Mrs. Paul O. (Beulah) Zech of Mansfield, and Mrs. William A. (Rowena) Drennan of Monticello, all of whom survive. He also leaves l0 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of six children. He attended the Presbyterian Church. Funeral services were held at the Neoga Presbyterian Church, Monday, June 13, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. James Campbell officiating. Organ music was furnished by James Leming. Casket bearers were Phillips Heaton, Robert McMullen, John Young, Gordon Hayton, Leo McMullen and Alfred Kimery. Honorary bearers were Orville Young, Clark Young, Roy Wilson, M.M. Kimery, George Ashworth, and Clarence White.
Burial was in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery.
