2006 Elson Family Reunion

ELSON FAMILY REUNION Descendents of Ed and Mabel Elson held their third annual reunion at the Municipal Building in Neoga on Saturday, October 21, 2006. After a scrumptious potluck meal served at 1:00, the afternoon was spent visiting and getting reacquainted with relatives. Those in attendance were Bill and Rowena (Elson) Drennan (the only living child of Ed and Mabel Elson); Wanda Elson (the last living in-law of the elder Elsons) and son, Roger Beals; Lloyd Elson's descendents: Eddie Elson, son Mike, grandson, Evan, and a friend, Kathy Murphy; Jim and Jane (Elson) Richards and daughter, Ann; Rosalee and Linda Elson (daughters-in-law); Rosalee's son, Lloyd and Denise Elson, their daughter Erica and Randy, and daughter Dawn and Joe; Dwight's Elson's descendents: Betty Monroe and her daughter, Amy and Gerry Kingery and family; Lee Elson, his daughter Susie and Brian Tolch and family; Rowena's family: Marsha (Drennan) Hinthorn and granddaughter Madeleine Luna; Terry and Erin (Drennan) Cody, daughter Crystal Basey, and grandsons Brayden and Landen Basey; Other relatives present were cousins Marianne Morgan, and Jan Starwalt and friend. Saturday, November 3, 2007, has been set as the date for next year's reunion to be held in the Municipal Building in Neoga. ***************************************************8

Fourth Annual Reunion

Descendents of Ed & Mabel Elson met at the Neoga Municipal Building on November 3, 2007 for their fourth annual Elson reunion. After a bountiful luncheon, the afternoon was spent visiting and looking at pictures.

Present were: Bill and Rowena (Elson) Drennan, Marsha Hinthorn and Madeleine Luna, Erin Cody, Dylan Tate, Brad, Crystal, Brayden and Landen Basey; Tom and Linda Elson; Joe and Bernie Elson, David, Debbie, Hannah and Ben Elson; Jim and Jane (Elson) Richards, Susan Rothrock; Eddie Elson, Sam, Angie and Cade Elson; Lee Elson, Brian and Susie (Elson) Tolch and family, Tim and Christie Elson and famly. Guests were Betty Drennan and Mary Tabbert.

July 12, 2008 has been set for next year's reunion.

SECOND ELSON FAMILY REUNION

Neoga's Jennings Park served as the meeting place for the Elson family reunion on Sept. 24, 2005. A potluck dinner was held.

Attending the 2005 reunion were Wanda Elson, Roger Beals and daughter Missy, Janet Starwalt and friend, Marianne Morgan, Jane and Jim Richards, Linda Elson, Bill and Rowena Drennan, Betty Drennan, Richard and Clara Marie Woelber, Sam and Cade Elson, Mike, Erin and Evan Elson, Eddie and Dee Elson, Marsha and Laura Hinthorn, Madeleine Luna, Erin Cody, Merle and Nancy Elson, and Marjorie Dralle.

The 2006 Elson family reunion will be held at 1 . p.m., Oct. 21 at the Neoga Municipal Building.

FIRST ELSON REUNION - 1934

ELSON REUNION IN INDIANA The first reunion of the Elson family was held Sunday in Beechwood Park, Rockville, Ind. A basket dinner was enjoyed at the noon hour and they were entertained during the afternoon with a program which pertained largely to the family history. The program was opened with a talk by Levi Nevins of Rosedale, Ind., president of the organization. A family history was written and read by W. H. Elson, Chicago, author of the Elson Readers for public schools. A poem, "Elson Ancestors," was composed and read by Charles Catlin of Olathe, Kans. Old letters written in 1800 by ancestors and now owned by Mrs. Emma Fredericka Leemis of Magnolia, O., were read by Mary Frances Carress of Rosedale, Ind. It was decided to hold the 1935 reunion in Rockville the fourth Sunday in August. Among those who attended were eight first cousins: Charles Catlin, E. C. Elson, Hense Elson, R. T. Elson, W. H. Elson, Mrs. Lilly Haga, Hannah Mary Seybold, Laura Nevins. Those present from Illinois were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Elson and son, Charleston, Mrs. J. W. Cornwell, Peoria, R. T. Elson, Nellie Elson, Mr. and Mrs.Ray Starwalt, Willard, Paul, Marion, Harold and Anna Catherine, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Morgan, Joyce and Neva, Mr. and Mrs. John Haga, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones of Lerna; Mr. and Mrs. Levi Beals, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Linkhart and Edna Linkhart, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Redfern, Irene and Eleanor, Rodney and Betty Jane, Albert Beals and son Bobby of Trilla: GeorgE Wilson, Etna; Mr. and Mrs. E.
